This is a question that frequently comes up for every business and business owner. How do you attract new clients to the business? How can you generate leads when you are just starting? How can you get new clients when you have limited budget? How can you have clients if you are a small business?

The very essence of having a business is to start generating clients so you can begin getting profits. As most of us do not have thousands of dollars to use to market the business, it therefore becomes a big problem for us to promote to our target clients. How can we compete with the Fortune 500 companies so we can get a share of the market pie?

It is not a simple task to market with limited budget. But it also does not mean that we cannot market at all. It just indicates that we have to be creative in getting our message out there.

Here are simple ways to market without having to spend so much of our budget:

Ask. It is a very simple action but can get you as many clients for your business. Simply start by asking how they found you. Or if you are still employed at the time you started your business, you can ask your clients how they found your company. You will then find that the information you need to start marketing is in their answers.

Tailor-fit. This applies to your marketing tools such as your brochure printing. You would want to custom fit it depending on the ideal client for your business. Make sure that your brochure printing message communicates the way your target clients expect it. Your message would only be a waste of your time, money and effort if you are going to market to everyone and hoping you can attract a few along the way. It would benefit you more if you can customize your message so that the person reading it would get your point and be convinced right away of the value of your offer.

Get in touch. Contact the establishments in your locality or community. Ask them if they have a need for your kind of service or product. Let them know that you are opening a new shop or practice, and that you may be able to help them.

Go online. Have your own website. You may be surprised at how many people can find you in the Internet. Many customers nowadays go online if they are looking for a product or service. A website then can greatly increase your visibility. You can include information, contact details, as well as forms that your clients can fill up so you can easily deliver their requests right away.

Yellow Pages. Consistently put an ad in the yellow pages. Look for directories that you have in your local community. And then choose those that are specific to your needs. Do not ignore this marketing route. Although many people are now using the Internet to look for a particular service or product, still many are comfortable using the yellow pages.

Finally, keep track and measure your results so you can adjust your marketing efforts according to the changing needs that you have.
